About the Artist

Scot Rittenbaum is a self-taught artist living in Ravenel, South Carolina whose art studio is in his home and garage.

While Scot began drawing in earnest at age 12 and painting in his 20s, he decided to devote himself as a full-time artist in 2019 after a career in business and non-profit management.

Scot embraces his feelings and weaves them into expressive compositions of color, line and texture.  In his paintings, Scot primarily works with acrylic, oil sticks and watercolor.  In his drawings, Scot primarily works with pen, marker, crayon and pencil. Further, Scot’s artworks focus on three motifs:

1. Abstract - often inspired by nature and everyday observations which sometimes include symbols and visual references
2. Home – a thoughtful consideration of the subtleties between a home, a house and a shelter
3. Birds – an homage to Scot’s eldest daughter who passed away from complications of cystic fibrosis in 2018.

Scot welcomes inquiries for commissions.
